Top 5 Fun Facts About Son Goku - Dragon Ball

Top 5 Fun Facts About Son Goku – Dragon Ball

One of the most successful manga and anime series of all time was, of course, “Dragon ball” and “Dragon Ball Z”. We know there are a lot of us who are really indulged in these series, and in the main protagonist, Son Goku. Because of that we really want to create this article with some fun facts about this guy that DBZ fans might find very interesting and engaging.

#1 Goku is scared of a needle

It’s funny to see Goku freaked out at the sight of needles. I still remember there is a scene when they visited the hospital planet, Goku refused to go inside because he thought that a doctor would try to give him a shot. This shows that Goku has so cute child-like aspects of his personality even as a grown, strong and powerful protagonist

#2 ‘Kamehameha’ Goku’s Signature move translates to ‘Turtle Destructive Waves’

Kamehameha is the first energy attack shown in the Dragon Ball series. The Kamehameha is the most widely used finishing attack in the Dragon Ball series and is Goku’s signature technique. It is also a signature attack of the students of the Turtle School. The term Kamehameha seems to come from the king of Hawaii, King Kamehameha, however, this is not the case, Kamehameha is a term for something along the lines of “Turtle Destructive Wave, or のカメの破壊の波 which is as close as Kamehameha. That is why Kamehameha stands for Turtle… Wave, however, because it destroys anything in its path, it would probably be “Turtle Destruction Wave”.

#3 In the whole of Dragon Ball Z, Goku has only killed two villains… Yakon and Kid Buu!

Almost every storyline in Dragon Ball boils down to waiting for Goku to get in the fight and knocked down the big bad, but it’s easy to forget that the series’ main protagonist rarely kills his opponents. Goku let Frieza slice his own goofy ass in half (while Future Trunks defeated Frieza in his Cyborg form), and Cell hit his own self-destruct button. The fact prevails that, throughout Dragon Ball Z, Goku only kills two people. Both events took place during the Majin Buu arc. The first was Yakon, a low-level miniboss whose gimmick was devouring energy. All Goku had to do was overload him, like flexing to pop the bloody bowels of a pesky mosquito.

The second was Kid Buu, the pure form of the Majin Buu Saga. All Goku attempted to do was to create a Spirit Bomb made from the freely given energy of the people of Earth and pushed it towards Kid Buu. The Spirit Bomb overwhelmed Kid Buu, then his body disintegrated into nothing. This occasion marked the only time the Spirit Bomb was actually good for anything beyond stretching the episode count.

Japan is so great! The Japan Anniversary Association has “officially” recognized May 9 as Goku Day. The numbers 5 and 9 can be read in Japanese as “Go” and “Ku” respectively (悟空の日). In 2015, the Japan Anniversary Association officially declared May 9 as “Goku Day“. Film distributor Toei had applied to the association to have the day recognized as Goku Day.

#5 Goku has participated in 6 World Martial Arts Tournament and has won only once!

The World Martial Arts Tournament originated in a festival held since long ago at the temple which now serves as the tournament grounds. The tournament originally occurred every five years, which is changed to every three years after the 21st World Tournament. It is interesting to note that there is only one World Martial Arts Tournament that Goku has ever won (the 23rd), despite his participation in several before and after. This is the first tournament where the outcome determines the fate of the Earth. Incidentally, after this tournament, everything had to be built from scratch because the entire area was vaporized during the fight.

We really hope you guys find this article entertaining and let us know what incredible or amusing stories you have for Son Goku that have never been revealed in the comments!
